Contemporary photographer and New Zealand native Jake Silby manipulates the world around him to display itself in beautiful, moving compositions of simple interchanged between color scheme and texture. The artist graduated from Massey University with a degree in design and has since taken his talents to New York and London where he has most recently displayed work. Silby’s incredible photographs are so special in their variety of textures composed in relation to lighting and color. Many of these images feature aspects of dimension, but the way they are captured oftentimes flattens the viewer’s perception to create a beautiful arrangement of patterns similar to the way a layered abstract painting appears. In this incredible achievement the artist bridges gaps between mediums and turns everyday corners and discarded trash into stirring photographs that have the ability to resonate with something inside a person.
