Born in Brazil to parents of German heritage, photographer Mona Kuhn has since relocated to the United States where she received her formal training in the art world and currently resides and works. Kuhn is most widely recognized for her large-scale dreamlike photographs that oftentimes depict the human form. The artist has an unusual approach as she ensures to create good relationships with her models before photographing them so that they are comfortable being naked in the environment. Mona Kuhn is a master with lighting and shadows and expertly arranges and conforms them to her will to create beautiful patterns over her subjects. Worth noting is how well Kuhn’s work appears when displayed together. Her use of primarily desert hues that seem to be captured near dawn and dusk and whimsical lighting connect all of her pieces together regardless of subject matter. See her beautiful work below!
