Brendan Lee Satish Tang was born in Dublin, Ireland of Trinidadian parents and is a naturalized citizen of Canada where he now lives and works as an artist. Tang gained his appreciation for the ceramic medium while attending a formal art education in the American Midwest and has since made it a critical material in his work. The artist aims to exemplify and illustrate the constantly self-conflicting modern world that we live in through his sculptural pieces that often mash together styles from Ming Dynasty ceramics and futuristic-looking elements. His works are full of irony in that some appear as vessels but could not be used as one and that some look like they’re housing wires when they aren’t. Brendan Tang’s work is definitely the kind that one can spend a while looking closer at and questioning the thought process behind each piece! Enjoy his unique work below!
