Takashi Onishi’s paintings of clashing eras

Japanese artist Takashi Onishi was born in Osaka, Japan in 1978. He currently paints and teaches painting in his hometown. His work has been shown in several shows in Asia and will be displayed at Art Stage Singapore 2016 but not much information is available about the artist or his work. At first glance, Onishi’s artwork appear to be modern renditions of the historic art of his country that most people are able to identify easily. However, his pieces blend traditional Japanese art with modern themes, incorporating hulking metal factories into beautiful Japanese architecture and throwing odd props like iPads, machine guns, and satellites into his paintings. Enjoy his work below!
