Dark and detail-oriented artwork by Leopold Rabus

Contemporary artist Leopold Rabus is from the rural community of Cortaillod, Switzerland. He believes that the essence of life is found in the intricate details and fleeting feelings that we observe and experience everyday simultaneously. His work displays the microcosm of the small town he lived in – and the people he knew in it – in a very deep and dark manner that takes what could be observed as simple to a philosophical level. Everyday repetitions are given symbolic meaning in Leopold’s art as we’re shown that something so small and easy to look over can be so full of meaning and value. All in all, there is a mood in his pieces that is difficult to explain but impossible to deny. Dive into a few of his pieces below!
